How we treat cockroaches

Our four-stage cockroach programme

Rather than relying on a single spray, we combine up to four methods that work together, chosen after inspecting the infestation. Every product is used according to its approved label and the safety needs of the property.

  1. Residual treatment

Keeps working against cockroaches crossing treated surfaces.

    More detail

A residual insecticide is applied to targeted areas, so it keeps working against cockroaches that cross treated surfaces.

  2. Specialist ULV treatment

Reaches cockroaches a residual treatment cannot.

    More detail

Where suitable, an ultra-low-volume (ULV) application reaches cockroaches in areas a residual treatment cannot.

  3. Gel bait

Reaches survivors and newly hatched cockroaches.

    More detail

Insecticidal gel bait is placed around harbourage and feeding areas to reach survivors and newly hatched cockroaches.

  4. Monitoring traps

Show where activity remains and guide the follow-up.

    More detail

Monitoring traps show where activity remains and how the treatment is progressing, and guide any follow-up visits.

We'll tell you which stages your property needs, the price and the guarantee, on the call.

Cockroaches in commercial kitchens and blocks of flats

Cockroaches need warmth, water and food, which is why they are most often found in commercial kitchens and in blocks of flats. In blocks they travel through service ducts, pipe runs and shared walls, so treating a single flat may not solve the problem. We can work with managing agents to treat affected flats and communal areas together.

Signs of cockroaches

From a recent job at a pub: cockroaches actively eating our gel bait, stage 3 of our programme.
  • Insects that run for cover when a light is switched on, mostly seen at night
  • Small dark droppings like ground pepper or coffee grounds in cupboards and corners
  • Brown, purse-shaped egg cases behind appliances or in cupboards
  • Shed skins near warm hiding places such as fridges, ovens and boilers
  • A persistent musty or oily smell in kitchens or bathrooms
Keep them out

Prevention tips

  • Clean up food and crumbs, and do not leave dirty dishes out overnight
  • Keep food in sealed containers and empty kitchen bins regularly
  • Fix dripping taps and leaks, since cockroaches need water
  • Seal gaps around pipes, behind units and along skirting boards
  • Check deliveries and second-hand appliances before bringing them indoors

Cockroaches: your questions

How quickly can you get to me?

We cover every London borough and we send a technician out as quickly as possible. Call 07943 875884 and our office will tell you the arrival time before you hang up.

What is the difference between German and Oriental cockroaches?

German cockroaches are small, light brown and about 1–1.5 cm long, with two dark stripes behind the head. They like warm kitchens. Oriental cockroaches are larger, about 2–2.5 cm, dark brown to black, and prefer cooler, damp areas such as basements and drains.

How many visits does it take?

Cockroaches almost always need more than one visit. Eggs inside their cases can hatch after the first treatment, so we return to treat again and check activity.

Are the treatments safe for children and pets?

Our technicians apply treatments where children and pets cannot reach them, and tell you exactly what has been used and where before they leave.

Do you treat restaurants, takeaways and blocks of flats?

Yes. Commercial kitchens and residential blocks are where cockroaches are most common. We can set up regular contract visits with a written report after each one, and visit discreetly on request.
