Our five-stage flea programme
Fleas are highly resilient and spread quickly through a property, especially where there are cats or dogs. They hide in carpets, furniture, bedding and flooring, so our programme tackles them at every stage of their life cycle.
-
Inspection and identification
We find the affected rooms and the likely source.
More detail
We inspect the property to identify flea activity, affected areas and likely sources, paying particular attention to carpets, furniture, flooring and pet resting areas.
-
Preparation and advice
What to vacuum, wash, and treat your pets with.
More detail
We give you detailed preparation instructions, including vacuuming, washing suitable fabrics and arranging an appropriate vet flea treatment for your pets.
-
Residual treatment
Kills adults and larvae and stops new ones developing.
More detail
Professional residual insecticides are applied to the affected areas, targeting adult fleas and larvae. Where appropriate, insect growth regulators are used to disrupt flea development and give ongoing control.
-
Specialist ULV treatment
An extra method for exposed adult fleas.
More detail
Where suitable, an ultra-low-volume (ULV) space treatment is used alongside the residual treatment to control exposed adult fleas.
-
Follow-up treatment
We return in two to three weeks for newly hatched fleas.
More detail
A follow-up visit is normally carried out within two to three weeks to assess remaining activity and treat newly emerged fleas, particularly those that were protected inside their cocoons during the first treatment.
We'll tell you which stages your property needs, the price and the guarantee, on the call.
07943 875884Fleas from pets and after moving in
Most household fleas are cat fleas, which also live on dogs. Their eggs fall from pets into carpets, bedding and gaps in floorboards, where they develop out of sight. Fleas can wait in an empty property for months, which is why bites after moving into a new London flat or house are so common, even with no pets in the home.
Signs of fleas
- Itchy bites, usually around the ankles and lower legs
- Tiny dark brown insects that jump, often seen on carpets, rugs or pale socks
- Pets scratching, biting or licking themselves more than usual
- Small black specks in pet bedding that turn reddish when placed on damp tissue
- Bites appearing soon after moving into a property that had been empty
Prevention tips
- Keep pets on a regular flea treatment recommended by your vet
- Vacuum carpets, rugs, sofas and pet sleeping areas often, and empty the vacuum outside
- Wash pet bedding regularly on a hot wash
- Ask for a flea treatment before moving into a property where pets have lived
Fleas: your questions
How quickly can you get to me?
We cover every London borough and we send a technician out as quickly as possible. Call 07943 875884 and our office will tell you the arrival time before you hang up.
I do not have pets. Why do I have fleas?
Fleas can survive in carpets and floorboards as pupae for months without a host. They often hatch when someone moves into a property where a previous owner had pets, triggered by the vibration of footsteps.
Do I need to treat my pets as well?
Yes. Treating the home without treating your pets usually means the problem comes back. Speak to your vet about a suitable flea treatment and time it with our visit.
How many visits does it take?
Normally two. After the first treatment we return within two to three weeks to treat fleas that have since hatched from their cocoons, which no treatment can reach while they are still inside. Regular vacuuming between visits helps bring them out.
Do you treat rental properties and commercial premises?
Yes. We treat flats and houses between tenancies for landlords and letting agents, as well as offices, care homes and other commercial premises.
