How we treat wasps

Our four-stage wasp nest programme

A wasp nest near your home, garden or workplace is a nuisance and a safety risk. Our programme finds, treats and eliminates active colonies safely.

  1. Find the nest

In lofts, wall cavities, roofs or gardens. We confirm they are wasps, not bees.

    More detail

We identify the nest location, assess wasp activity and establish the safest treatment approach, including nests in lofts, wall cavities, roof spaces and gardens. We also confirm they are wasps, not bees.

  2. Risk assessment

We plan around you, your pets and your neighbours.

    More detail

We assess the risks to residents, pets and the surrounding area before choosing the most appropriate treatment method, and give you any safety instructions you need.

  3. Nest treatment

Applied directly into the nest with specialist equipment.

    More detail

Using specialist equipment, we apply a suitable professional insecticide directly to the nest or its entrance, targeting the colony and the wasps returning to it.

  4. Activity check and follow-up

What to expect, and removal if needed.

    More detail

We advise how long the treatment takes to work, as some wasps may still be seen while the nest dies off, and assess any continuing activity. Further treatment or nest removal may be recommended where necessary.

We'll tell you which stages your property needs, the price and the guarantee, on the call.

Wasps in London roofs and eaves

In London homes, wasps most often nest in lofts, under roof tiles, behind soffits and fascias, and in air bricks. You may never see the nest itself, only the steady line of wasps going in and out of one gap. Nests are not reused the following year, but the same gaps can attract a new queen, so it is worth checking them each spring.

Signs of wasps

  • Wasps repeatedly flying in and out of the same gap, often in a straight line
  • Lots of wasps around the roofline, eaves, air bricks or a garden shed
  • A grey, papery nest in a loft, shed, hedge or bush
  • A quiet chewing or rustling sound from a loft or wall cavity
  • More wasps indoors than usual, especially near windows in the loft
Keep them out

Prevention tips

  • Check lofts, sheds and eaves in spring, when queens start building nests
  • Seal gaps in soffits, fascias and roof tiles where you can safely reach them
  • Keep bin lids closed and clear up fallen fruit in the garden
  • Cover food and sugary drinks when eating outdoors
  • Call early, as a small nest in spring is easier to deal with than a large one in late summer

Wasps: your questions

How quickly can you get to me?

We cover every London borough and we send a technician out as quickly as possible. Call 07943 875884 and our office will tell you the arrival time before you hang up.

When is wasp season?

In the UK, wasps are active roughly from April to October. Queens start new nests in spring, nests grow through the summer, and activity peaks in late summer before the nest dies off in autumn.

Should I try to remove the nest myself?

We would advise against it. Disturbing a nest can make wasps defensive, and nests are often in lofts or high on the roofline. Keep children and pets away from the area and call us.

Do you remove bees too?

Bees are beneficial and some are protected, so we do not treat them the way we treat wasps. If you are not sure what you have, call us and we can advise you on bees and what to do next.

Can you treat nests at businesses, schools and pub gardens?

Yes. We treat wasp nests at commercial premises, including outdoor seating areas, and can visit at a time that causes the least disruption to customers and staff.
